Pit's Haven was established in 2009 by myself Julie Woolf. We are a 501(c)3 and our EIN number is 27-1757104. I have grown up around pit bulls and have come to know the true meaning of American Staffordshire Terrier aka Pit Bull. These dogs are so misunderstood and everybody thinks the worst of them. The pit bull was formerly bred to be a family dog many years ago and still are to an extent, I believe that despite the reputation the pit bull has been given (due to someones negligence) these dogs just like any other breed, and they deserve a good life, home filled with love, and if we can help them we will in any way since we are their voices. Animal shelters are so over populated these days that they can only keep a dog for so long due to space limitation so I have opened up my heart and home to these dogs that were on death row, to give them a second chance at life. At Pit's Haven we strive to find out the good and bad points of the dog, at this point we will try to rehabilitate, vaccinate, micro-chip, spay/neuter and find them a forever home, but most of all we give them lots and lots of love. We do not believe in euthanasia so we give all our dogs that second chance. If you would like to help then you can go to the contact us page and send us a email and we will get back to you. We strive to find each and every one of our dogs a forever home no matter how long it takes. We have added 3 additions to our rescue a low cost spay/neuter clinic, Pawz with a cauz that helps train a dog to be compatible with our Veterans with PTSD and a program that trains dogs to help adults/children with disabilities.
PIT'S HAVEN HAS DECIDED NOT TO OPEN A SECOND RESCUE, WE HAVE BUILT A BIGGER AND BETTER RESCUE WITH LOTS MORE ROOM TO BE ABLE TO HOLD MORE DOGS. WE HAVE LAUNCHED 2 NEW PROGRAMS TO OUR FAMILY, THE FIRST IS A LOW COST SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC WITH MY PERSONAL VET MARIA WHO IS ON PREMISES IN HER OWN OFFICE AND OUR 2ND NEW PROGRAM IS PAWS FOR CAUSE. PAWS FOR CAUSE IS A PROGRAM THAT TRAINS DOGS TO BE A COMPANION TO MILITARY VETERANS WHO SUFFER FROM PTSD. WE STILL HAVE OUR SERVICE DOG PROGRAM THAT HELPS DISABLED CHILDREN AND ADULTS.
WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF DOG BEDS, DOG FOOD AND TREATS, DOG GROOMING SUPPLIES, DOG BOWLS, DOG LEASHES AND COLLARS, BLANKETS, SHEETS AND PILLOWS. IF YOUR NOT IN OUR AREA WE ARE WILL TO PAY FOR THE SHIPPING OF THE DONATION.
Our most recent quest was this past weekend we went out to Texas and Kansas City to help with clean up and help take some dogs and bring them back here to Pit's Haven. We are holding these dogs for 30 days in hopes that they can be reunited with their families, if not they will be able to be adopted through us. I must give props to the Humane Society for how they have handled this catastrophe.
